Since its founding in 2011, the European Alliance for Subject-Specific and Professional Accreditation and Quality Assurance (EASPA) has provided a platform for the cooperation between the European and international quality assurance networks and international organizations in the development and harmonization of their activities in the field of quality assurance and quality improvement in higher education.
The newly founded ASIIN Global University Network of Excellence in Higher Education (AGUNE) was successfully launched with an Online Opening Event on the 25th of January 2024. The event ensued with the welcome address from Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Christian-Andreas Schumann, Vice-President, ASIIN, Board of Directors. Mr Rosenberg, member of the ASIIN Board was also present. The Managing Director of ASIIN, Dr Iring Wasser, elaborated on ASIIN’s vision for AGUNE, how AGUNE fits into the ASIIN set-up and about the expectations associated with this new alliance.
On January 11, 2024, a Framework Collaboration Agreement between the Union of Chinese-Application-Oriented Universities on International Cooperation (CUIC) and ASIIN has been signed, aiming at improving the Chinese higher education sector (HES).
On 14-15 December 2023, the ASIIN European Informatics Conference brought together thought leaders, education and industry experts in Valencia to discuss the future of informatics education in Europe and how to address the skills shortage without compromising on quality. The conference was organised in collaboration with partners CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies), DIGITALEUROPE and EQANIE (European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Education) and brought together a wide range of participants, including representatives from the international business community, employers' associations, national and international higher education communities, policy stakeholders, quality management staff from higher education institutions and representatives from international quality assurance agencies and accreditation bodies.
The ASIIN Accreditation Commission met on 7/8 December 2023 for its quarterly meeting, which took place virtually.
Led by the two chairs Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kathrin Lehmann ( Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg) and Prof. Dr. Gert-Ludwig Ingold (University of Augsburg), the Accreditation Commission evaluated 38 applications for programme accreditation and two applications for system accreditation, which demonstrates a consistently high workload of the Commission.
