Initial Meeting of the new ASIIN Board

On November 4th, 2020, the new board of ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) had its first meeting. The new chair will be Prof. Dr.-Ing. Felix Huber. Professor Huber comes from the University of Wuppertal and is currently the chair of the Faculty Association of Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Environmental Engineering. The new vice chair will be Dipl.-Jur., Dipl.-Oec. Matthias Toepfer from the Employer Association Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Besides Professor Huber, the Universities will be represented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Heyno Garbe (University Hannover) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Norbert Ritter (University Hamburg). The Universities of Applied Sciences will be represented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rolf Biesenbach (University of Applied Sciences Bochum), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kira Kastell (Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Kreulich (University of Applied Sciences Munich).

From the Technical and Scientific Associations and Professional Organisations, Dr. rer. nat. Dipl.-Chem. Saša Jacob (VDI), Prof. Dr. Marc Krüger (University of Applied Sciences Münster) and Prof. Dr. Katharina Landfester (Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research) were elected to the board, while the Trade Associations and Organisations of the Social Partners are represented by Jan Hauer (EXXETA AG) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tim Hosenfeldt (Schaeffler AG) besides the new vice chair Dipl.-Jur., Dipl.-Oec. Matthias Toepfer.

The newly composed board of directors and management team will officially begin their activities as of January 1, 2021, for a period of 3 years, and will be responsible for strategic decisions and associated legal matters. The baton was passed on by the two current ASIIN chairmen, Dipl. Wirtsch.-Ing. Ralph Appel, Director of the Association of German Engineers, and Prof. Dr- Hans-Ulrich Heiss, Vice President of the Technical University of Berlin, who served as ASIIN's chair and vice-chair for the past six years.
