ASIIN awards EQAS-Food Label for Study Programmes in the Food Sciences

Recently, the Accreditation Commission of the ISEKI Food Association (IFA) authorised ASIIN to award the internationally renowned EQAS-Food Label as part of its study programme accreditations. The label is a quality seal for the special distinction of study programmes in the field of food science. By meeting the increasingly important international standards, the programmes demonstrate their international comparability and thus not only promote the internationalisation efforts of their respective universities, but also and above all the mobility of students and graduates.

To qualify for the EQAS-Food Label, the degree programmes must meet general criteria based on the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) as well as subject-specific criteria, particularly with regard to learning outcomes and curricular content. Among other things, they must achieve a majority of the predefined learning outcomes in five areas, including the areas of "Food Safety and Microbiology" and "Food Chemistry and Analysis". The learning outcomes differ according to the level of qualification sought (Bachelor's or Master's degree). A complete overview of the criteria can be found here.

Interested universities can apply for the award of the EQAS-Food Label together with the ASIIN Quality Seal. In addition, ASIIN offers universities the possibility to check the suitability of the programs for the ASIIN Quality Seal and the EQAS-Food Label within evaluation procedures for the award of the seal of the German Accreditation Council. Programmes that meet the criteria can receive the label for a period of up to 5 years.
