25 Years of ASIIN - Our Anniversary Celebration

On December 8 and 9, 2024, ASIIN celebrated its 25th anniversary with a festive event at the Literaturhaus München, which was attended by over 150 participants from all over the world. Under the motto “Heading for new shores”, board members, committee members, experts, long-standing companions, cooperation partners and representatives from colleges and universities came together to celebrate this milestone. Participants traveled from countries such as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Finland, Indonesia, Tunisia, Armenia, Spain, Portugal and many other regions, underlining the international reach of ASIIN and its work.

The day began at 09:00 with a welcome address by Dr. Iring Wasser, Managing Director of ASIIN, followed by a review of ASIIN's beginnings by Dr. Willi Fuchs, former Chairman of ASIIN. These inspiring speeches recalled the beginnings of the organization and paid tribute to the challenges that have been successfully overcome over the past 25 years.

A special highlight was the presentation of the “ASIIN 2030 Perspective” by the current Chairman of the Board, Prof. Dr.-Ing. His presentation outlined ASIIN's strategic vision for the coming years, with the aim of further developing quality assurance in the education sector and meeting global challenges.

In addition to the presentations on the history and future of ASIIN, the program also included other exciting keynote speeches:

  • Dr.-Ing. Hans-Joachim Bargstädt, Chairman of the Accreditation Council, shed light on the current challenges facing higher education policy.
  • -Ing. Matthias Wunderlich, VP Manufacturing Quality of the Renault Group, focused on the perspective of the economy.
  • The contribution by Carsten Schiffer, M.Sc. (RWTH Aachen) from a student perspective, who emphasized the importance of quality assurance for students, set a special accent.
  • Finally, Stéphane Lauwick, President of EQAR, gave a European overview of the developments and opportunities of quality assurance.

After Dr. Iring Wasser honoured ASIIN's long-standing supporters and partners, the event ended with a joint lunch and a visit to Munich's Christmas market.the festive atmosphere provided ample opportunity for networking and sharing experiences and memories.the evening before, 8 December, the participants had already got into the mood for the anniversary celebrations at a joint dinner in the traditional Löwenbräukeller.

The anniversary celebration was a complete success and a worthy setting to honor ASIIN's achievements over the past 25 years and to look to a promising future. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this unforgettable event. ASIIN looks forward to continuing to work with its partners in the coming years to safeguard and further develop quality in education and science.
