Group of universities of applied sciences as part of the German Rectors' Conference

Within the German Rectors' Conference (HRK), 119 Universities of Applied Sciences (HAWs/FHs) are organized as the ‚Universities of Applied Sciences Members group‘. Prof. Dr. Jörg Bagdahn, President of Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and Vice President of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) represents the 119 HAWs / FHs as spokesman. The spokesman's advisory board is the „Sprecherkreis“, which consists of eight HAW/FH rectors. The rectors of all 119 HAWs / FHs meet twice a year in a general meeting. The HAWs / FHS are also represented in their respective federal states by HAW/FH federal spokespersons.

The ‚Universities of Applied Sciences Members group‘ considers ensuring the quality of teaching to be one of their core tasks and maintains a high level of interest in quality assurance issues. All three ways of accreditation are important: the program accreditation, which checks, for example, to what extent the qualification goals of a degree program correspond to the final level, as well as the system accreditation, in which it is determined to what extent university-internal quality management systems are capable of ensuring these course-related goals. Innovative models of external quality assurance also make it possible to ensure the quality of teaching.
