Conference of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculties
The Conference of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculties (MNFT) is an association of the faculties and departments of mathematics and natural sciences at German universities. The MNFT represents the interests of its members and promotes dialogue between the faculties.
The MNFT comprises faculties and departments from currently more than 50 universities that are active in research and teaching in the various disciplines of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geosciences and pharmacy. The members of the MNFT are represented by deans, professors, scientists and specialist representatives from these fields. The MNFT is managed by an advisory board consisting of elected representatives of the member institutions and the professional associations of the natural sciences. Regular general assemblies and meetings of the advisory board ensure a continuous exchange and the processing of current topics.
The MNFT is committed to the promotion and further development of maths and science subjects in research and teaching. The MNFT represents the interests of its members vis-à-vis politicians, university management and other institutions. It takes a stand on educational policy issues and is involved in shaping the university landscape. The MNFT offers a platform for exchange and cooperation between the faculties and departments. The aim is to utilise synergies and initiate joint projects through networking and cooperation.
Quality assurance is an important concern of the MNFT. It is particularly vital in the university sector to set and continuously review high standards. The MNFT works to ensure and improve the quality of teaching and research.
Accreditation and certification of study programmes are complementary elements for ensuring the quality and recognition of degrees. The MNFT supports its members in the implementation and execution of these processes to ensure that degree programmes meet national and international standards.
Membership of ASIIN enables the MNFT to play an active role in the further development and quality assurance of study programmes. The exchange with other members and the opportunity to help shape accreditation processes are valuable benefits. In addition, the ASIIN platform offers the opportunity to obtain and exchange information on current developments and challenges in the field of accreditation and quality assurance.
