Purpose

This webinar introduces institutional accreditation as a tool for quality assurance, transparency, and continuous institutional development in higher education. It combines a concise overview of concepts and processes with a practical case example from International Information Technology University (IITU), Kazakhstan.

The case session will examine IITU, an IT-focused higher education institution in Almaty, as an example of international institutional accreditation. IITU applied for institutional accreditation with ASIIN in 2016, prepared its self-report during 2017, and received the ASIIN institutional accreditation decision in March 2019, with validity until 30 September 2023. The case will highlight the role of self-evaluation, institutional quality culture, documentation, resource management, programme transparency, and alignment with international standards.
