Double degree programmes offer students the unique opportunity to earn academic qualifications from two universities in different countries; expanding their academic pathways and enriching their cultural and professional perspectives. Such programmes promote international collaboration, diversify curricula, and strengthen the exchange of knowledge and innovation between partner institutions. For students, they provide a competitive advantage in the global job market by fostering intercultural competencies and familiarity with multiple academic systems. For universities, double degrees enhance international visibility, deepen strategic partnerships, and support long-term internationalization goals.

Programme Overview

This webinar will explore the practical development and implementation of double degree programmes, using the master’s-level collaboration between TU Ilmenau (Germany) and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) as a real-world example. After brief introductions and opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Rolf Grieseler will share an experience report highlighting the programme’s origins, motivation, key features, benefits, and challenges.

An interview segment will follow, offering deeper insights into financing models, legal and institutional frameworks, curriculum alignment, and administrative processes. The session will conclude with an open Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly and raise further questions.
